Description
The goal for the Wild is to address their speed and offensive production issue by trading for some more offensively-oriented players. Faulk looked awesome on Carolina's PP and I think he'd be a great addition to the Wild's blue line if we traded away a RD. Gardiner has mental lapses defensively (which is why he's on the 3rd pairing with shut-down defenseman Greg Pateryn) but his offensive game would be a good addition. Nylander is the real boon in this trade and the goal would be for him to drive play and possession down the middle of the ice and have him become Staal's eventual replacement.

The Leafs get a massive upgrade to their blue line without losing any of their major SIGNED pieces. The Leafs have demonstrated they don't really need Nylander and their issues are in their own end. Spurgeon and Brodin are great defenseman where Spurgeon can put up numbers from the blue line and Brodin is more of a defensive transition guy. Coyle struggled last year due to injury but he could really use a change in scenery and could thrive with Toronto's high-powered offense. Look at his 16/17 numbers for a more accurate representation of who he is as a player.

The Toronto trade might need a little balancing with picks but this is what I came up with since our GM has stated publicly he thinks picks are very valuable assets. I'm sick of making the same TOR trades over and over (I really think Nylander is perfect for this team) so this is something different.

Yeah I understand that. I just think Nylander is worth that much. He's only 22 with TWO 61 point seasons. Guys like that generally grow into PPG players and with the rising cap $8M for him isn't unreasonable for him given his ceiling. To be clear: as a RW, I don't think he's worth that much, but as a center I do. I'd love Kapanen and a 1st for Spurge but not sure if Toronto would be willing to pay that much

Way to much cap for the Leafs to take....which they don't have. Leafs need to able pay their Performance Bonuses this year. Plus the Leafs need expiring contracts (Gardiner) next year to afford Matthews and Marner.
Is Nylander really worth that contract?
