Description
CHI has had a good 3-0-2 start, and Toews is taking charge.

But every CHI roster has Saad being traded because he's overpaid for the few minutes he gets. Canucks just lost Pettersson their 1C of the future to a concussion, and have enough cap space so that value matters less than absolute performance

I think CHI may do a deal because they are playing well, so I thought I would make an attempt instead of speculating what Nylander traveling to Switzerland means. Hopefully I at least avoided crossing any hard limits

Plenty of cap space to add 1 top pending UFA at the trade deadline, especially factoring in D who won't be returning and the annual cap increase

I don’t follow Vancouver much at all but, like Chicago, they have also been a pleasant surprise early on. They even beat Pittsburgh last night without Pettersson! As a Hawks fan, I do like this Sutter addition, even if it was, perhaps, straight up for Saad. As for your lineup, tho, there are too many “not rights” in it. On defense, Jokiharju is playing great with Keith, Seabrook is finally getting the proper TOI, Murphy is injured, Gustafsson is playing too well to sit. Up front, Kahun is producing on the rejuvenated Toews line, Kunitz and Martinsen are bottom six material and Schmaltz is a top 6 guy.

That trade is a no go. Juolevi is a 5th overall draft pick, they’re not letting him go like that. And Saad does not play center.

I have to question if you even watch the hawks considering you put schmaltz on the 4th line. Martinsen who should be in the AHL is on the 2nd line while Kahun isn’t even in the lineup?! The lines and defensive pairings are whack.

1. I haven't seen Saad for a while, and unless he's got off-ice addictions, I think he can still play given plenty of icetime
2. My mistake, I had assumed he played C in Jr but moved over in the pros

Who is the deal bad for? Is Saad that bad?

Yeah, I just went quickly by the eliteprospects depth chart. I know Schmaltz is better than a 4C, but I figured he might get the fewest minutes because he wouldn't score more than Toews/Anisimov and he would do fewer D-zone starts than Sutter. Gustaffsson may be playing well, but it's rare for D to break in the NHL and stick at 26, so I wanted to feature Juolevi - Jokiharju who could play a lot of minutes for a long time as a kind of Keith-Seabrook successor.
