Yikes.

Carolina has no reason to trade Pesce +++ to then overpay Nylander and to then set the market against themselves when they try to re-sign Aho and Teravainen in the offseason.

I dont think this would ever happen 16 mil for a guy who gets hurt every year is way to much if this did happen i would be very suprised

How's this scenario. Don't match the 16.1m offer sheet for Matthews. You get 4 first rounders, from I imagine Arizona who would the about the team with Matthews cap space. Then with the 11 or 12 m you had set aside for Matthews, spend on a UFA or two....this 2019 or 2020. Don't pay Matthews 16.1m, you keep Zaitsev and the new centre Nylander....for a total of 12m tops.

If offer sheets were at all a potential issue, why has there not been any mention of this for Nylander? The answer is it isn't a possibility and they are stupid. Kapanen could get an offer sheet though, he could easily get an offer sheet for around 3 million that I doubt TO could handle so he could get lost in that regard and only get a 2nd round pick back.
