The only deal the Leafs would make with the Wild is Nylander for Dumba 1-for-1, which is more than fair. If there was a time to trade Kapanen, it would only be if they signed Nylander (therefore, not being able to potentially sign Kapanen) and trading Kasperi at the draft.

I think that's a very enticing offer for MN. I'm a huge Kapanen fan. I hate the idea of losing Dumba unless we could pry Trouba away from Winnipeg (which is unlikely), but we do need to get some younger forwards and this is a great way to do that. Not sure if Toronto wants to give up both of Kapanen and Nylander, though, even for Dumba.

I don't think that the Leafs would trade Nylander and Kapanen in the same package. And something that seems to have escaped everyone else -- Kapanen is up for a new contract, too; are you sure you have room for both of them, even after subtracting Dumba's hit?

Nylander and a prospect or two (Grundstrom, Moore, one of the centers) for Dumba and the second seems about right. Another thought is including one of Toronto's innumerable defense prospects not named Sandin or Liljegren (Rosen, Borgman, Lindgren).

The more I think about it the more I wonder if we need Nylander more than Dumba. I don't think Fenton is even considering moving Dumba but this team has always failed to bury grade A chances and Nylander can do exactly that. The Wild already have Suter and Spurgeon as top pairing players (Dumba is too, he's just younger which aligns more with Toronto's ask in a Nylander trade) and need a game changing forward. Nylander fits that bill.
