Love Laine but this makes 0 sense for everyone. Winnipeg is as likely to deal Laine as Toronto is Marner. They take a pass on that deal

Toronto is going to have to get creative to get all their RFA's signed with Nylander at close to $7m....how much more does Laine cost?

I am not sure I like the fit of Laine in TO. I think both Matthews and Tavares are better goal scorers than they are playmakers and having Nylander and Marner with them maximizes there goal scoring abilities since both are really good or elite play makers. How would Matthews and Laine work together? I am not sure that they would have really good chemistry. I think with Laine you want to pair him with a playmaking centre who can feed him the puck in prime scoring positions. Matthews could do it sure, but he's every bit as good a goal scorer as Laine, (before you say that I'm being a Leafs homer, Matthews will almost undoubtedly reach 100 goals faster than Laine did) and if you play him with Laine, he'd be expected to become the play maker. It would be interesting to watch though.

I completely agree, I was just talking value wise.

Yes laine would cost marner and possibly plus some. Obviously a bad fit with Matthews though. Two guys fighting each other to shoot the puck.
