Description
Well, this kind of goes sideways with the Chiarelli firing, but I could see Edmonton trying to move some things out.

Brown I feel is destined for the Oilers, good buddies with McDavid and a defensive winger that has at least SOME offensive upside is 1 of many things they need. Polak somehow garnered a 1st, so despite Larsson's low value right now, feel like they're at least getting that. Edmonton free's up 4mil for the 2018-19 season too. Larsson looks destroyed in Edmonton, feel like in the right enviroment he could get the confidence back into his game.

Then try to re-sign Reider ala Tyler Ennis style. Mainly did this to see if Gardiner could retained, but it's not looking possible if they upgrade the right side at all.

Brown and a first rounder is a Big swing for a guy who does just look beat and at his best is what a second pair d man. He has a team friendly deal and term left if it works its genius but the odds seem long. . I feel like their are guys out there that just seem like safer bets.

That's not prying, that's gigantic overpayment in my opinion. Prying would be trading a struggling D for a struggling D, Larsson for Zaitsev straight up. But then of course, every Oilers fan out there, as soon as they think Larsson, think of the value he somehow has attached to him because he was good enough (in "some" peoples minds) to be traded for Taylor Hall.

Price is about right imo. Oilers probably would rather have Liljegren instead of a first, though

Trade value is pretty fair, Larsson is a pretty underrated dman, just watch him. But I doubt Edmonton bites

Larsson's OK but how does this really help the Leafs? Trading out 2.1m just acquire 4.2m Larsson. With Gardiner and Hainsey gone, to be better the Leafs gotta do better than Larsson and Marincin as replacements. IMO some real cap has to be traded out like 7m Nylander, in order to get more cap for a one or two real NHL improvements on defence. Those figures for Matthews and Marner....Leafs can only hope.
