This offense would be ridiculously good. For the love of god please no too Luke Schenn, we should have learned our lesson the first time around!

That is a bloody good team.

Defense is still suspect. Still very young! And paying $10 mil for Duchene hurts and is probably about $2 mil more than I would want to pay.

Luke Schenn was a joke addition. Basically just looking for a veteran than will work spot time. So if its Folin who comes back that's fine or whichever veteran it ends up being.

Without a doubt the defense is young. Given that the offense will be more skilled spread over 4 lines they should be able to create a game plan that gets them out of their own zone faster with a punishing counter attack. Couturier can be used purely as a shutdown center. But this team won't be giving too much up while on the road either. They'll create some type of matchup nightmare in just about every team's lineup.

As for Duchene's AAV. I want him for the shortest term possible. He's a UFA so nothing under 5 years is happening. I originally liked 5 years $10 million per. I thought the higher AAV might only get him to knock a year off the deal so I changed it to six.
