Uh.....$2.5 million isn't gonna break the bank....but why? It's not like he's dominating in possession in ~19:20 per night. He's not a scorer. He isn't even right handed.

It's not the end of the world, but it's either a precursor to a trade, or a mediocre contract.

It's a decent contract to be a #5 guy. I'm more confused as to the timing of it all. Why not see how this season plays out move him for a pick or two if they're out of it? If they fall out of the race now, they just lost a good trade chip as a pending UFA.

I'd argue this has made him a better trade chip. that contract strongly resembles the deals for Kevin Klein (back in the day) and Ryan Ellis. While McNabb isn't as good as the latter, any team trading for him gets a decent, cost controlled through his best years, Dman .

2.5 million on a guy who technically hasn't proven himself yet. Or even seem to make a difference.
