Why would Montreal do this? Oreilly isnt what we need. and Bergevin isnt going to make this team older than it already is

We don't need a #1C? Since when?

We dont need a defensive center that is going to cost us 7 Million when we are paying Weber 7.8 and Price 10.5 To play defense. we need a guy who can provide offense and win faceoffs (which Oreilly does). But this trade means we have 500k in cap to resign Danault and Plekenec

O'Reilly does provide offense, consistently putting up around 60 points with meh linemates is good production, not to mention he's very good on the PP, and like you said he's a faceoff beast which we don't really have now outside of Plekanec who is a very bad possession player otherwise. I don't think we will face a cap problem next year, the cap is predicted to go up to $80mil and if Plek doesn't sign for under $2mil we can just let him walk.

Why even resign him. Drouin, ROR, Danault, DLR is good for me, considering Price's contract also kicks in (if he doesn't get traded before that)

True, there's really no need to re-sign him and he's probably the most likely piece from us to be flipped at the TDL for a pick anyway. In my vision, Drouin is a better fit at wing though.

Agree, i cringed when we traded Sergachev for another winger. But perhaps Mccarron poehling or bitten pan out as a legit top 2 C

There we have it folks. One of the worst comments I've ever seen that is so backwards I'm starting ot og dnilb.....

Late edit: I should rephrase that, i don't mean worst comment I've ever seen. I've seen some way worse then this but this one is definitely misguided. Especially coming from a MTL fan, I think?

Dude Montreal does have the luxury of choosing who we want as a #1 center. OReilly would be the best center we've had since pre Chelios killing Koivu injury.

But yeah your right, MB should go after Malkin and Mathews or Crosby right? Yeah keep dreaming. MTL will never get a big name superstar center ever again unless we draft him. Until then....WOOOOHOOOO OReilly!!!

I've lost all the hope for McCarron, dude just can't seem to be able to put it together at all. I'm very excited about Poehling though, and don't forget about Ikonen although he's not having all too promising season so far.

I feel you about Mccarron, but DLR sudden emergence is giving me optimism. I was excited about him when we 1st drafted him, but he was looking more like bust with time. Hopefully it's not just a temporary mirage. So maybe there's hope for Mac, maybe as RW who knows. I also still have high hopes for Ikonen.

RORs faceoff ability would be golden for the playoffs...IF we make it

O'Reilly fits in Julien mentality and Drouin would be back on the wings to play more offensively... nothing bad with this trade.

Don't get too psyched about DLR yet... Prior to his line demolishing the Wings last weekend he's been pretty much a ghost out there so far. He's still got hope left though.

I can change it to a 2nd no problem, a 1st I think is a bit much. Galchenyuk, Juulsen (a top RHD prospect) and a 2nd rounder is already very good value for ROR.

What exactly is it that you don't need?
