Schmaltz a scrap? A 2018 first in a deep draft a scrap?


A late first isn't worth trading a former second overall and a cheap top 4 dman. Pokka and Kempny have little value.

A late first isn't worth trading a former second overall and a cheap top 4 dman. Pokka and Kempny have little value.


What order they were drafted in is irrelevant once you see what they can do at NHL level. Schmaltz is slightly better than Reinhart. Very comparable though, and a 1st Kempny and Pokka is for sure worth McCabe. Not saying Buffalo wants to part ways with these guys but the value is there.

You're biased, I don't think anyone cares if you're drafted 1st ovr or 183rd ovr, if you perform better than the other player you will have higher value. Schmaltz overall has produced better, at the same age than Reinhart. A mid 1st in a real deep draft is worth about Mccabe. Kempny and Pokka are busts who can be reconstructed.

No they haven't. Reinhart is much more accomplished. He had more points as a teenager than schmaltz has in his career
