Description

I'm not even going to finish the rest of the team. They just need some depth players. Lots of money comes off the books after this year so they will be able to sign Karlsson and maybe another forward or two.

I truly believe that Tampa Bay is the best fit for EK. Light taxes, nice weather, and most importantly, Victor Hedman. Yeah, they could also make a run for Doughty, but I think EK is a better fit with this D core. He will most likely accept a slightly smaller contract than he would've in Ottawa or elsewhere. His offensive run-and-gun style fits in well with the bolts hot offense.

That's a pretty pathetic offer for a top 5 D man in the league, No way are you getting Erik Karlsson for that.

You guys act like they'll get the moon for him. What did Toronto get for Kessel? I get he's a superstar, but Ottawa doesn't have leverage in this situation. Especially with his statements about getting his money. Plus, he has a no trade clause. You can't just send him wherever you want. There's only 2 or 3 teams that can afford him and where he'd be willing to play.

since karlsson isn't a ufa till 2019, ottawa will want to salvage next season before they trade karlsson.

Moller. Kessel had morphed into a poor player with the Leafs. The fact that he upped his game considerably as a Penguin makes no difference to the Leafs. In effect, Kessel was 6.8m cap dump.

Underpayment sure. Nothing of value? That's a bold faced lie. Tampa will not include Sergachev or Point. If that means they don't get Karlsson thats's fine, he is a luxury for them at this point. I could see them making an offer starting with Johnson, Foote, 1st, and Stephens, but Yzerman isn't a guy to completely sell out the future for 1 or 2 cracks at the cup. Sergachev and Point are too important to the team now and in the future to move.
