The Canucks are better off not making the playoffs and getting a top pick, rather than lose in the first round for the next 5 years. They still lack a true number one defensemen. They shouldn't tank, but they should trade most of their expiring ufa's for a solid return. Getting top picks doesn't always ensure success (buffalo for example), but it sure does help your chances.
