This trade gives us a wing prospect in the system. Currently going at a 0.5 PPG clip in the AHL, I'd give him a B+ rating

We lose Brown, which is our 2nd best center prospect, Joel Daccord which was a 7th rd pick in 2015 and may never amount to much and a 5th that may never make the NHL

i know but brown was a top 15 pick in a very good draft and is probably our best prospect not named Thomas Chabot. There's also a draft in 2018, we could go for a winger if we don't get the Dahlin pick.

Would you move one of Logan Brown/Colin White + middle pick (3rd/4th) for Dante Fabbro. Trade gives Chabot his World Junior partner and could be a super strong pair in a couple years.

Fabbro was also a 1st rd pick

right now i really don't think we're making deals like this. I think we cold start building for the future if the Senators finish near the bottom of the league, but otherwise, after the season we could go for more of a win-now team.

That may need to be a complete overhaul then... If a team has the exact 20 from when they finish last in the league, how do you expect them to be a playoff team the next?

Also the Brown/White for Fabbro deal makes it so that we have prospects in other positions... as of right now our only half decent prospects are Center and Chabot

Maybe White, but we do have younger d-men like Karlsson and Ceci, so we don't have a big need for D prospects. Maybe a bit later.

I'm saying if we come last or something, then we should probably just rebuild and not go for the playoffs ... if we finish with ... let's say 80 points or more, we could try to build a playoff team for 2019 in the offseason.

Ceci isn't really someone I'd trust on a regular basis... He has been playing well as of late but he is streaky and will eventually start playing poor again... I think he a deadline sell for sure

So... help me, help you... What do you want to do with the team... we are dwelling near the bottom of the standings.

Do you

A.) Want to try our best to reach playoffs by trading away picks and prospects for players that will help offensively, defensively and help us make playoffs

B.) See how the team plays until the trade deadline and plan accordingly from there.

C.) Trade away the 1 and 2 year contracts on the team and try to rebuild the team to be competitive in 3-4 years, while also accumulating picks to refill our prospect pool
