Defensive depth for the Pens with the potential for a reclamation project similar to what they did for Schultz (although they are very different players). This probably means Cole is as good as gone now.

I like this for Dallas. We got 140 games out of Oleksiak, and now a 4th rd pick. Whereas there's always the possibility he finds a home in Pitt, as well as the potential he was originally drafted for, I like the asset return + the door being opened for the next D prospect to walk through. He had multiple opportunities and just couldn't find his game here with our mix, his future was going to be somewhere else based on the last couple seasons of opportunity. Best of luck to Big Rig, hello to the much needed cap space for this year's deadline, and to a future asset we can utilize in a number of potential ways....

This was a three-way deal. The pick came from Arizona to offload Leighton.

I wanted him to be used as trade asset for getting an established player, but it does make sense. He didn't win the job.
