I doubt leafs take that deal. Sure they need a top RHD but I feel like Marner could command more let alone adding gardiner.

No one doubts the talent that Marner would bring to the Flames, BUT, he's small and we get pushed around enough as it is now.
Dougie is (by size) our biggest Dman but he doesn't hit people. So giving up size for smaller size, I just don't know.
If you switched out Brodie for Hamilton it becomes a wee bit more appealing to me. But that's just my opinion.

Sorry, as is Leafs would have little to no interest. . . . .perhaps swapping Tkachuk, for Ferland might garner some traction!

This fantasy about. this # 1 Dman, that has to be traded to the Leafs. Fact is Hamilton is just replace the Carrick/Polak a RHD position. That's a massive improvement of course. But then the Leafs have to find a replacement for Gardiner. And Marner is good now and will be better.
If getting a # 1 Dman and having good defence so important, why the Flames out of a playoff spot right now, despite spending 21m on their top 4 Dmen?

I agree with you from a Flames perspective. I just think that Hamilton holds more trade value than Brodie so I threw Hamilton in there to make it more appealing to the Leafs. Although judging from the responses here the trade probably won't take anyways

If you swap out Ferland for Bennett, I believe just by trade value that it is a fair trade.

If I were the flames I would definitely do this. One of the best kept secrets in the NHL is that Dougie is not a top pair dman, only seems like it because of the guy he plays with. I would prefer Gardiner over him and would love Marner over Ferland, but obviously the leafs would never do that.
