Assumes $58M capfloor & Coyotes pick 4th overall.
Yotes take on Orpik for an upgrade of about 25 spots in the 2018 draft, if WSH picks 24-31 and MIN's 2nd pick is 45-50. Caps take on Bolland's LTIR contract, which they can use to their advantage. Bolland is owed $1.25M in real money, which is less than half the cost to buyout Orpik.

Considering the Coyotes already are pretty stacked in terms of NHL capable dman, especially on the left side, I don't see them really needing to do this. They'll still need to pay Orpik a fair amount of money which I don't think they as a franchise want to do unless its for a quality player.

Believe it or not, I can see MTL doing this. They are quaintly realizing that they need to retool/rebuild and they also have a weakness on the LHD. I think this would be a smart move for both teams. Plus WSH wouldn't have to take on Bolland's contract. They could simply take on a roster player like Joe Morrow who is cheap and could be a 1 year playoff depth 7th dman for them.

Yeah sure. MTL has tons of cap space and frankly adding a guy like Orpik in order to move up from a 2nd to a 1st rounder is totally justified and smart.
