Sharks & Isles Trades

Created by: FireTippett
Team: 2017-18 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2017
Published: Dec. 31, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Boedker has a high cap hit, but the Coyotes can afford to take on some extra cap and Boedker is close friends with OEL. Braun is an upgrade on Schenn.
Isles need some defense with the recent injuries & things haven't worked out for Hammer in the desert. Arizona needs some scoring and Nelson has put up at least 20 goals for the last several seasons. Nelson plays both center & wing. Strome, Del Colle, Crouse & Merkley feature for Tuscon's playoff run.

If the Sharks are in playoff hunt, I don't think they would like to give up Braun. DalColle has virtually no chance of being NHLer, despite his high draft position. I'd take another prospect.

I agree that Arizona should take another prospect. Because I still think MDC has a good chance to make the NHL. He's only 21 and plays a physical game; those prospects take longer to develop. I think he'll take two or three more years to make the NHL, but I think he'll eventually become a good 3rd line power forward. All this is why I think MDC won't be traded; he's more valuable to the Islanders as a potential role player than as a trade chip worth the equivalent of a 4th round pick.

But! If I were the Isles GM and that offer came across my desk, I'd take the offer. I've always like Hjalmarsson's game.

I like these trades. Hjalmarsson for Nelson is a legit trade. I'm not sure why NYI would trade MDC for Richardson who's hasn't got much value. Boedker back to Arizona makes sense as well and I could see Arizona moving Duclair.

The overall theme to this mock was very considerate. It seemed to incorporate the bigger picture and ship out guy's who haven't quite worked out for players on other teams who are in the same situation. I think Arizona got the slightly better deal in terms of value in both trades, but it wasn't to an unappealing level. Thumbs up from me. cheers
