I think the trade makes more sense without Mete or Edmundson (after all, Montreal is building for the future and St.Louis is trying to bolster their current roster for a Cup run), but the general framework works.

Something based on Barbashev (or Edmundson if the Canadiens really felt building their current Defense was crucial), a 1st, and a 2nd makes realistic sense

It would make sence if they were 2018 picks and if Mete weren't included ... The idea is always to rebuild quickly, not to wait 3 years to actually draft and anther 2-3 years before these players even play in the NHL.

I would do Patch and Benn for Gunnarson, Thomas, Schmaltz and your 2018 3rd.. It matches the Cap and need for both teams
