Why does Garth Snow give so much term to his lower-end players? Sure makes them harder to get rid of if things go sour.

First Pelech and now Mayfield. I hope Snow decides to extend players that aren't just role players. Like Tavares or de Haan or Bailey.

Term is tooooo long. It should've been 2-3 years. Money is just right though.

Good contract, if he doesnt pan out its only 1.6 Million. If he does, its a steal of a contract. Win-Win really

Great signing. Mayfield brings a lot of physical presence to a team that otherwise lacks it.

Great signing! He's playing like a 2nd line Dman and it's only $1.45M. Even 3rd pairing Dmen can cost more than this. With this said...a broken clock is right twice a day... NYI still need to find a new GM.

Guaranteed this was the first offer given and Mayfield just stared and took the 7 M without thinking twice

Good signing. I agree with the other guys. Money is good. Term seems dumb.

Odd signing.
It's a lot of money for a replacement level player, but good cap security for the team if he's a regular player for 5 years. He's still young enough that he may have a couple of surprise seasons where this will be a bargain, and if things go south, it's only a $375k cap hit to bury the contract.

I don't mind the signing from a GM standpoint, but I question a player that doesn't believe they will be worth more in the next 5 years. If you don't think you will elevate your game and be worth more in a couple of years, why should I invest in you?
I can only conclude that he's a pragmatic/realist or really likes the Islanders.
