It would take a Lindros-like return (when he went from Quebec to Philly) to make it happen. I would want Dvorak, OEL, Domi, Hammer and their first.

Well, the NHL is certainly a different animal today. Arizona could not send that many roster defensemen and agree to a deal. Also, Lindros was essentially McDavid at that time - the second coming. Autson Matthews is certainly amazing, but this is the difference between upgrading a diamond 1 grade in any category: Upgrading a diamond's cut from Very Good to Excellent can double the price.

would be something to really consider, and I think would leave the Leafs in a great spot for long-term contention while not removing Arizona's ability to compete.

I guess I figured Keller, strone and demers would equal out OEL domi and Dvorak, thus allowing the leafs to have a RHD on the second pair. Strome maybe the stretch in my trade...

I don't know why OEL is on everyone's mind. He's a UFA after next year & he's gonna get $8,000,000 from someone.

We may as well just bid on him then (or on Doughty, Karlsson, McDonagh, etc). The young guns with 3 more years on and ELC (then RFA's) are more valuable.

The 1st round pick is also huge (they're in last & are 13 points behind 3rd last place - so its pretty much a guaranteed top 4 overall - even if they lose the lottery).

Brady Tkachuk is ranked #4-5 so he's a likely available even if the Leafs miss their 18% chance at the Dahlin sweepstakes.
