That Isles trade cannot possibly be serious, can it? That is nowhere near close. Barzal is untouchable.

Price is not as valuable as you think, considering his contract and the NMC.

If Montreal was the only team in the league that 1. had a salary cap. 2, wanted to win. then this would all makes sense.

Oh ok so you are a Edmonton fan first and foremost? Then a Habs fan afterwards?

Wow so much to chew on here. This certainly makes for a good discussion. The first question is Price. Is it too much, not enough, just right. He is one of the best goalies in the world and will be good for another5 solid yrs. The Islanders get the goalie they seek but lose Barzal in the process. Are the two #1 draft picks justifiable. A Habs fan would say yes, an Islanders fan would say no. Although I am a massive Habs fan, it does seem rich, 8 for 1. Might have to take less or add on the Habs side. The Petry trade is good for both teams. The Alzner trade is decent. Patch for Simmonds, great debate question. Who is more valuable. Patch is a pure goal score, when surrounded with right players. Simmonds has more grit, which Habs need and also produces. Tough one to call on this one. Hemsky, yup no problem, but not sure EDM gives up a draft pick so he can retire. If he plays one more year, maybe. Logan shaw has size, Burrows in on the downside of his career. Personally I would not make that trade but neither player will have an impact, so mute point. Shaw is younger. Schlemko for Galchenyuk`s old junior teammate. Very interesting if the "magic" can be recreated. Ah, you just flipped Burrows with A. Shaw. I like that move. The trade with TOR is interesting. Is TO getting enough in return, yes they are getting 2 players off the books. But still are they getting enough? 3 players plus a 2nd and 3rd. Who cares about the 7th, for Morrow and JDR. Both young and relatively unproven still. Not sure Benn gets you 2, 4th picks. Maybe a 4th and a 7th.

When all is said and done, you have cap space and a ton of picks. With those picks and cap space, you can go get a better goalie because the two you have are not good enough. But good for you, for at least putting actual thought into this.

Price is one of the best goalies in the world, but his contract kills his trade value. NYI would never even consider that. At this point, taking on Price's massive contract becomes almost a cap dump not a hockey trade.
