Interesting idea.

I think there are some useful pieces going back to OTT (although they'd probably want a little more) but from a Dallas perspective, Klingberg is already providing what you'll get from EK. Not downplaying EK at all, but I think they would do better to focus on any other area than RD. On the other hand, you'd be getting 50 minutes per night of crazy offense from those two defensemen, so it's not a bad plan by any means. I just see a little too much redundancy in EK and JK for the Stars to give up Heiskanen ++, who could eventually be the perfect partner for Klingberg.

Yeah Jason Spezza back to Ottawa isn't happening, And Karlsson would be a draft time deal not a trade deadline type deal. And good luck to Dallas being able to afford to resign both Seguin and Karlsson Seguin will command $9+ million and Karlsson at least $11+ million if not far more. That's surely too much to give up for only 1.5 years of Erik Karlsson.

I don't know if Ottawa would be willing to take back Spezza or Lehtonen because their owner is so cheap, but I like the idea overall. The value on Karlsson seems about right for what they would be looking for if they ever moved him, and would give Dallas two really solid years to run for the Cup before Karlsson/Seguin hit UFA.

Ouch. I've heard of going all-in, but this would set Dallas back years! Even if this brought the cup, would be painful for several years after. If anything, I could see Dallas pursuing a scoring winger if available (think Grabner as an example), but can't see them giving more than a prospect & pick to acquire. Goal scorer who wouldn't cost much against the cap, as well as wouldn't cost major assets. Don't see them moving anyone from the current roster as of now. We've got some extra draft picks I'm sure Nill would feel comfortable parting with, but he's too patient to move prospects like Heiskanen or high round picks for players he'd not likely be able to re-sign for next season and beyond. Go Stars!
