Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So we all know that if the bruins were to make a move it’d most likely be something to bolster the back end. I’d love for them to make a play for OEL but not too sure of what the cost would be. That being said, what’s out there? Whose available? I used to look up rumors all the time but I’ve personally found that useless. This is more of a thread for everyone to give their input on who you’d like to see the bruins get and what it’s going to take to get that guy. DISCLAIMER: I know I’m over the cap, but come TDL OEL should fit

OEL is going to cost more than that. I imagine talks start w/ 1st + Carlo + (one of) Heinen/Bjork....assuming McAvoy & Pastrnak are non-starters.

That's not enough for OEL unless he made a statement that there was no way he would resign with the team he's traded to. That trades basically like Lauzon + 1st + secondary items for OEL. I think it's more like Krug + 1st + secondary items for OEL in reality. As a Bruins fan, I'd give Krug and a 1st for OEL, even with the risk of him walking. Plus Grzelcyk is good enough to play the 3rd pair instead of being the 7th D.

Even moving Miller we're still busted on Cap space. Our best bet to OEL is going to be to extend Chara for 1 season and to trade/buyout Beleskey (buyout is probably more realistic at this point) then to make a monster offer when he becomes a UFA as we will have the cap space to do such. The problem is McQuaid, McAvoy, Carlo, Heinen, along with a half dozen other ELC's need signing between now and then. Plus we still have the problem of a back up goalie as Khudobin's contract also comes to an end after this season. What to do, what to do... we can't keep them all...

This is with OEL at full cap hit. If he were acquired at the TDL, he'd have a pro-rated hit and we should be under the cap.

don't think ARI is interested in moving him though... definitely not at that price...

I think a BUF 1st might make them raise an eyebrow, but not a late 1st round draft pick; imagine if they (ARI) landed both Dahlin and Boqvist that LHD/RHD combo would be a force for the next decade and a half...

Agree, ARZ would have a HUGE bidding war for OEL. Boston would really need to bring a BIG package to get him and IDK that Sweeney would want to do it.

Im just trying to gage an idea of what the bruins could get. I feel it’s still almost too early to guess whose gonna be selling at this point besides the two obvious bottom dwellers ARZ and BUF. MTL and EDM both are teams I’d consider that wouldn’t want to make a deal with us. Florida doesn’t really seem like a trade partner. Any guys you’d like to see them make a run at come TDL season?

Specific guys idk, but a mid-20's top 4 LHD w/ top pairing potential wouldn't be a nice add. IDK if we could get someone at the level of OEL, but a similar type two-way LHD. Not sure VAN lets Edler move on, but he's a guy I like to (while not being mid 20's)

I think the best fit I've seen was Edler from Vancouver. I think he'd be the right price and he's solid all around.

I'd like to see a bigger body on RW to replace Spooner (even if that means taking a risk on someone who doesn't have the same point totals as Spooner, but has the potential to put up those totals if put on a line with Krejci and DeBrusk) The first name that comes to mind is Coyle MIN. I think if he wasn't playing a line with Eriksson and Stewart his totals would drastically improve, but I don't know my opinion might be biased because he's a hometown kid. What do you think of a 1 for 1 swap Spooner for Coyle?
