Nylander's father, Michael, actually played in Calgary for a while. But sorry, RFA's with that amount of talent don't just come falling out of the sky

Those prospects are total no-names to me but when I looked them up to give a fair assessment I found out they both have good numbers. I saw Harvard play a game but don't remember much of Fox so I don't know how good he is. I guess if those prospects work out then this could be fair, but I think Calgary wins if they amount to nothing.

I would do this as a flames fan, I don't see TOR fans supporting this, but the value isn't far off at all. And I might get ridiculed for saying this but Fox and brodie might be fair.... brodie eats top pairing minutes, but makes his mistakes. Fox looks like he could be the real deal too, which would give tor an entire pairing.... No matter how you cut it Defence is more valuable than forwards

Nylander is highly talented and worth giving up assets to get. Brodie is controllable and on a team friendly deal. I could see this working, but again I'm going to get it from the TOR side.

Nylander for Hamilton is not fair value... as the other poster said RFAs with lots of skill don't fall from the sky, but there is more of them then 6'5 RH controllable top pairing D. I can think of Seth Jones and that's about it..... just my 2 cents

**** no. This is horrible value. We give up a top end defensive prospect and one of our top 4 defensemen. The market is Taylor Hall, a point per game player, for Adam Larsson, a fringe 2nd pair dman. Brodie for Nylander is more than fair by that assessment, but adding Phillips and Fox is a huge no.

Hey thank you man for agreeing, I don't want to get ridiculed by TOR fans, who think nylander will get them a top end D...

but hall for Larson, drouin for sergachev (unknown at the time) put me down for brodie for nylander as a deal to work around....

I still think due to age you'd have to add to brodie a bit to offset the age. I think brodie+Phillips/mang for nylander would be fair.... 22 v 28 is still a gap that needs to be bridged a bit in my opinion. The other 2 deals that have been referenced were almost the same age....

Once again happy to see someone who sees value of D vs a winger... I agree fox and brodie is too rich..... fox looks like the real deal, I DO NOT want to move him, unless he doesn't want to sign.....

I love this!! MIxed opinions! From both fan bases is this a deal that could happen? If so what do you think it should be with roster player vs. roster player and adding in picks and prospects. I don't want to give up good prospects either but at the end of the day Nylander is much younger and has more cap control...

I think you'd do brodie+b prospect for nylander would be fair. As both are cost controlled assets but as I said previously I think you have to offset the age.

I get what you're saying with the age difference but brodie is also on a pretty team friendly deal and Nylander will need a big raise after this season, so you'd have to factor that into it as well. But I do think right now a big need for us is a scoring winger, preferably a right shot. Everything else looks solid, so I wouldn't want to fill a hole by creating another one, which is exactly what we'd be doing if we dealt gio, tj or dougie for a forward. I would not however mind if we could deal stone + a prospect for a good scoring winger, although I doubt that happens.

You gotta wonder what a guy like Ryan Hartman costs us. Chicago will be in a money crunch again, and he's a guy we might be able to grab at a cheaper tag that fits the bill a bit...

I agree we can't afford to move a d till we have one forcing our hand (Kylington) then you can make that deal with TJ

I feel that Valimakki will be the one forcing our hand and make someone expendable at some point, but I don't see us reaching that point this year or even next year necessarily.
