I think Ottawa does well in that trade.

Who care's, They're not on his acceptable trade list. So it doesn't matter he wont waive to go there.

Idk he's teaming up with a young core in Landeskog, Mackinnon and Rantenan and Mackinnon is looking like a beast this year. Central is wide open and more competitive than the Atlantic. Avs still have 1st rounder this year as well (2018), Avs have a strong hockey market and history. He can change his no trade list.

Sorry but I don't consider that a fleecing of the Senators. I'd say the Avs are getting fleeced in that trade. One player, elite or not, does not make a team (as evinced by Ottawa's current situation), and you are giving up a young D who could be elite in the future, a young centre who could be elite in the future, two picks that could lead to at least decent if not very good players and elite if you're lucky, a very good attacking D (though admittedly with defensive frailties) and a bottom 6 winger. Some people seem to be getting a bit carried away with the success the Avs are having, a bit like the first Roy season. FULL REBUILD does not equal giving up 3x first round picks, a very decent 2nd round prospect who probably should have gone 1st round, a decent attacking D and another young player for a single player you're going to massively overpay. Crazy! rolling eyes

Even worse you're proposing that if Karlsson doesn't re-sign with the Avs they get a single first pick back, so effectively a rental with a 1st for three 1sts, a very good second, a decent attacking D and another young player. No way I'd touch that deal with a 20 ft barge pole!
