Feel better if OEL was 6 years. I like Elliot but 3.5 and 3 years is pricey backup. Couple of those RFA’s will need raises.

would love to have pushed the bounds of RFA contracts a little more upwards but very unsure where the cap ceiling is going to be at in '20; 82 was a conservative figure...

You need extra forwards and you have no cap space for either.

82 is a conservative figure... then again McAvoy, Heinen, & Carlo will all probably be a little north of where I've got them so it's probably a wash... I'm not denying that this would put us in cap hell...

You can't run a 20 man roster and not have any cap left, And oh FYI you can only sign Oliver Ekman-Larsson for 7 years not 8 years only Arizona can do 8.

again... I think I already addressed this... I have no idea what the '19/'20 cap ceiling is going to be 82 was a very conservative figure. As far as OEL I didn't know he could only be signed for 7 years... fixing it now...

From what both Bettman and Daley were saying that $80 million is a very realistic salary cap for this year, So $82 million or $84 million for the 2019/2020 season is a real possibility just depends on how high the NHLPA raise the escalator cap this year and next.

A lot of this **** is like lowballing people, yet we're at the top of the cap. So wait we're signing OEL as an UFA for 8 years? Not possible. I like trades for him, but signing him is far fetched.

OP literally just said he didn't realize he couldn't sign him for 8 years and fixed it. He also said it 8 minutes ago, so it just shows you didn't read.

84 puts me in considerably better shape... idk these numbers would have to move slightly depending on where the cap ceiling is... this was just to grind out some numbers and see if this is even close to possible. I think this roster may need some cleaning up, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possible.

Trying to project next year can be tough, so I like the fact you tried to do a couple years. I'm going to take a swing at a roster next year and the following year. I'll probably use 80 and then 84 for fun.

I'd say $82 million for the 2019/2020 is pretty spot on maybe even slightly higher Bettman said the NHL revenue will be around either $4.5 billion or $5 billion that alone should put it closer to $80 million this year.Plus the Canadian dollar is getting stronger you're probably pretty close to the actual figure should know more before free agency.

He hadn't fixed it by the time I posted and you are correct that I didn't read the posters above me. There isn't always useful information so I just jumped right into it. I always read the description, but often times I skip the comments because I want to Analyze it myself instead of just read another persons view of the situation. If there were more Boston Threads started daily then I wouldn't have a need to do that, but because there are a limited amount you will see me skip reading comments so I can go over the entire mock myself. I find it fun to do an entire mock, not just piggyback on what someone else has said.
