Blues Blockbusters for Next Year

Created by: A_K
Team: 2018-19 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2018
Published: Jan. 22, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The trades would probably have to be in the offseason to avoid cap overages this year.

I just signed the RFAs in the deals to make it easier...

Thoughts on value / fit? Mainly just playing around with some blockbusters in the event that we have more ready players than roster spots... which is pretty wishful thinking.

The value of the trades are pretty solid. I feel like if Arizona were trading OEL to St. Louis, they would demand Parayko, and I'm sure that's a no go. Given Fabbri's scary injury history and the Yotes lack of blueline depth, that would probably be the ask IMO. The Ottawa trade looks really good, on the other hand. May even be a slight overpayment, but it's definitely a realistic move.

Fabbri is definitely a risk, so unfortunately this would be a sell-low move for the Blues. I think the only way OEL is traded is if Dahlin lands in Arizona. Even then, they might want to see more out of Chychrun before pulling the trigger on a move that doesn't bring back a top D prospect.
