This one is pretty easy. A 2nd rounder for Plekanec at 50%. A additional pick/ B- prospect could be added as a condition type thingy to give added incentive but at the cux of the thing, Habs will get a 2nd rounder. If it isn't a 2nd rounder, it could also be something like a 3rd or 4th rounder instead but with a better prospect.
There are tons of variations. Habs could take cap dump also to give added incentive but that would only raise the return needed from MTL.
All these PITs deals where they think Hagelin is an option are way off. Of course unless MB actually wants Hags. I'll assume he doesn't but yada yada I know, MB is a bad GM.
The goal for MTL in any Plekanec deal is to get the highest return in the form of picks and prospects, while taking on the least amount of long term liability. So if we trade Plekanec and have to take on a player like Hagelin, then maybe we are better off just taking less return instead. instead of having Hags in the deal, take him out and we'll only take a 3rd rounder for Pleky instead.
Just because Pitt wants to get rid of Hags doesn't mean we have to take him. We can deal Plekanec to other teams if thats the case. Like i said though, make it worth MTL's while......and any smart GM will take back any contract you like. So its not impossible.
