Created by: BleedBlue_LGR
Team: 2017-18 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2018
Published: Jan. 27, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Selling off assets for a rebuild/ re-tool see part 2 for 2018/2019 season adjustments.
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Steel, Sam
  2. 2018 1st round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Nash, Rick ($3,900,000 retained)
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Anaheim has plenty of D - they need some offense and another strong player in Nash playing with getz/perry would be formidable for anyone to try and matchup with during the playoffs. Steel is a highly regarded prospect - add in the 1st round pick.... and have the rangers sending a 2nd back to balance the trade.
2.
NYR
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  2. 2018 1st round pick (EDM)
  3. 2018 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Pajamas is a top notch prospect....this trade only happens if the oilers decide that they are buyers at the deadline.... this gives them depth scoring in grabner, plus someone who can actually keep up with mcdavid...and will solidify the blue line for the next 2 playoff runs....at a time when they will have a cap crunch...a #1/2 deman for 2.4mm is unbeatable value.
EDM
  1. Grabner, Michael
  2. McDonagh, Ryan ($2,300,000 retained)
  3. 2018 4th round pick (NYR)
3.
NYR
  1. Kostin, Klim
  2. Kyrou, Jordan
Additional Details:
Not sure how even this deal is...it is the top 2 prospects in the organization for the blues..no picks...for 2 playoff runs with a top 6 50-60 point winger... which would help the depth scoring for a team that is already stacked on the back end....
STL
  1. Zuccarello, Mats ($2,250,000 retained)
4.
NYR
  1. 2018 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
this could be any team who needs a depth C... figure 4th is fair value here
5.
NYR
  1. 2018 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Again, could be any team, 4th is fair value imo.

Sorry, but i doubt Anaheim gives up Steel and a 1st for Nash and a 2nd. Steel is way younger and has a lot of potential. Nash could be very good in Anaheim and i think they'd be smart to go after him, but i doubt they give up that.

You think they are more likely to do Steel - no pick? I think the rangers version of the rebuild is going to be more likely to lean towards already drafted prospects, as they should be faster impacts...
