Try more like Galchenyuk+Mete+1st+

PLD isn’t getting traded for that crap package.

Bit of an overpayment, but it would be necessary if we were to convince them to move him. He's comparable to Bennett at this stage in his career, so there's risk involved as well. Ideally Montreal would receive a conditional pick if Dubois didn't improve his numbers next season.

laugh Galchenyuk+2018 2nd round pick is nowhere to close value for a #3 overall pick in PLD not even close.

So PLD value is still worth more then Galchenyuk Galchenyuk+Mete is probably closer to PLD value.

People tend to overvalue young, unproven players.
Like I said, it would require an overpayment to get them to consider it, but even Galchenyuk 1 for 1 is a risk for Montreal.

The tendency is to forget players like Yakupov, Bennett, Strome, etc. That don't live up to potential. A proven NHLer has more value than a prospect or rookie.
50 NHL games is not enough of a sample size to make an accurate evaluation of a player, so the value still lies with the proven commodity.

No reason for Columbus to consider should Montreal come calling, but if they have interest in Galchenyuk, and Montreal was willing to add a 2nd on top, that's a legitimate overpayment and carries less risk than keeping Dubois.

The overvaluing of prospects and young players on this board is kind of ridiculous.

Galchenyuk in his draft+1 year played with the Habs and had 0.53 PPG. Dubois could't even crack the roster and now, in his draft+2 year, he is at 0.45 PPG. This is not to say Dubois is gonna be worse player than Galchenyuk (I think he's gonna be a lot better actually), but with a lot of potential comes a lot of uncertainty and a lot of risk. He could stop progressing and become a third-line center, he could be another Sam Reinhart, Alex Galchenyuk type of player or one day become a true number one center. The reason this is not enough is because of Columbus's needs, not because the value of the two players "isn't even close".
