Really? The Sedins waive their NMCs for Carolina. Maybe Pittsburg or Tampa.
Gudbranson isn't an upgrade over the Leafs Dman, and Lupul's LTIR is irrelevant now.

Why not though? Canes are still fighting for a playoff place, and they can afford both of them, unlike Pens or Bolts. And Gudbranson in my opinion would bring some depth to the team.

If Sedins are willing to have a playoff run, they could very well waive their NMC's and then return to VAN as UFAs next season. Or stay in Carolina. They have options.

I don't pretend to know the Sedins, but after having lived in Vancouver forever, I doubt if they would move for a "chance" to make the playoffs. It would have be to a team with an excellent chance of a deep playoff run and a Cup.

Those options are quite slim, since VAN can retain only one of their salaries, so the team that takes them take a hit of $10,5M to their salary cap. Doubt that there are not many teams that are able to take that amount of money. Tampa is actually most valid option if they can dump some expensive players like Callahan away (but he wouldn't waive his NMC for VAN). But Carolina could afford that easily, and are still in the playoff race, which is why I suggested the trade.
