Why are pens fans so eager to just blow up the defense that is signed for long term on great contracts and not get a player that is significantly better to offset that?

no interest in reaves and since rangers and pitsburgh have a rivalry i would have to say a conditional first rounder in 2020 if McD resigns

I'd rather have Maatta than McDonagh - long term, team friendly contract, and he's been really good this year. McDonagh is a 1.5 year rental.

Why would pit ever make that trade? A minor upgrade on D at the cost of a worse contract and age, losing one of the most promising upcoming prospects, and a first. For a middling 3c and the already mentioned minor D upgrade.
