Underpayment for Hjalmarsson. I think it needs to be a 2nd round pick for ARI to consider it (so long as we're on Hjalmarsson's 10 team trade list). If we're in a playoff spot at the TDL, I'd pay Roy + 2nd for Hjalmarsson.

The Galc deal has a bunch of throw-ins with no real value i.e. Ritchie, Kossila, Holzer. Basically, it's Kase + 1st for Galc + 2nd. I'm not sure MTL will think the moving up a few spots in the draft will be worth swapping Galc for Kase. At the same time, I don't think it's a great idea to move Kase at this point. He's on the verge of breaking out and brings that work ethic we need more of in this team. I know Galc is better right now, but is it really significant enough to be worth the risk? I mean, for all we know, Kase could end up a better player than Galc.

Also, you've had to move Rakell from the #1LW position to even fit Galc in. Why? Rakell is a LW and excels in that position. Why move Rakell from a position he dominates to fit in a new player? It just sounds to me like we just don't need Galc.

I probably like Kase more than many Ducks fans and I wouldn't make that trade. We don't particularly need him either.

Morand might be something to include, since I know Steel will cause people to have aneurysms.
Larsson or Peterssen (sp?) are considerations as well.
I don't see Galchenyuk moving without more immediate help however.

Yeah, didn't think so. I mean, Kase is younger, but only by like a year or 2, and Galc is only 24 years old this year. Even if you go in full rebuild mode, you don't move a 24 year old player who would be what? 28-30 years old once you've finished re-stocking. Personally, I don't see Galc getting moved unless its for a massive return or for an equivalent player also in need of a change of scenery.

I wouldn't be against moving Morand, Larsson or Petersson for the right player. However, I do worry that our D depth is slowly being whittled away.

Your D core is strong right now, and should be for a number of years. Plenty of time to restock. You haven't needed to trade or sign a UFA for a while either, so I don't blame you if you forgot that was an option. laugh

It's ok. We still don't have a true #1D. Lindholm is more of a top pairing D-man right now than an out-and-out #1D. Therefore, we need to rely on our depth, playing 3 solid D pairings. That's why I'm hesitant move Larsson because we could use him in the line-up next season:

Lindholm (#1-2 D) - Montour (#4 D)
Fowler (#2 D) - Manson (#3-4 D)
Larsson (#6 D) - Hjalmarsson/Pysyk (#3-4 D)

I know this would be godly depth, but I think it's necessary when you consider what NSH is playing:

Josi (#1-2 D) - Ryan Ellis (#3-4 D)
Emelin (#4-5 D) - Subban (#1-2 D)
Ekholm (#3-4 D) - Irwin (#5-6 D)

And with the current playoff format, we're more than likely going to have to face NSH at some point.

I can't remember the last time we had a good signing, especially on D. Beauchemin has been ok this season and Holzer has been decent at times, but before that we had Stoner, Souray, Allen, etc. All terrible. I think trade is the way to go, but, at the same time, I think good D-men like Hjalmarsson and maybe Pysyk (if he's available) are going to demand a 1st. That would sting, but I'd consider paying it. Hjalmarsson, in particular, would really solidify our back-end and help our younger guys development.

Honestly, with the group that Anaheim is, pending good health, I am not sure I would make any big or major changes. I really like their group, and adding Henrique to center depth that includes Getzalf and Kesler, when healthy, is pretty incredible, considering all the pieces they were still able to keep.

Kase Trade is horrible. Why would you trade Kase? It’s insanely dumb. WAY too much for Galchenyuk. DUCKS ARENT TRADING KASE. STOP

The Hjalmarsson trade would work if you changed that 3rd to a 2nd. Remember that Hjalmarsson got traded for peanuts. Roy is a future top 9 forward with speed and skill, perfect for today's NHL (kinda pissed that he's not being played on the current Ducks roster) and this draft is real deep so the 2nd is pretty valuable.

That Galch trade, however, is a huuuuuugggee overpay, I might not give Kase for Galch straight up.
