Way too much for him, my opinion.

Doesn't make me upset. I actually think Both sides should seriously think about something like this. AZ will probably want the 2018...minor tweak. BUT, there's absolutely a thing called giving too much for ANYONE for 1.5 years of service. This is a good package. I'd even dare say...too much because there aren't enough roster spots for all of AZ's prospect now lol.

Normally I'd say "not 1.5 years if you extend him", but BOS would have to give something like $7-8M to OEL, $6-7M to MacAvoy and would still have Krejci, Backes, and Rask on the books...sounds tricky.

I think the trade value would come down to how ARI values Zboril. I consider him a little bit raw still but he's got potential.

At that price, OEL better come with an agreement of a max extension when he gets to Boston. I'm still not 100% sure you give up Carlo as now you've weakened the right side...which is significantly shallow compared to the LHD group (pros/prospects).

What do you mean "Beleskey is a staple"? This deal is giving up a lot. Carlo + Zboril + Senyshyn + 1st is a lot of value going the other way. You also create a hole for the RHD now, and there are zero prospects coming up anytime soon. You're locking yourself in to Kevan Miller being a top 4 guy. I like Miller, but I prefer him as a solid #5. On top of that, you're going to have to re-sign OEL, after giving this package up. I think it's doable? I did a mock with McDonagh, who I think gets a bit less than OEL but still gets a big contract.

It's a pretty fair trade (maybe a slight overpayment, particularly if given the 2019 first), but inserting Adam McQuaid back into the regular lineup is probably enough of a downgrade that adding Ekman-Larsson isn't as much of a benefit as it should be. Not sure it would be worth that package.

True, but in the year where his extension kicks in....

Krejci - goes from a NMC to a modified NTC
Backes - same as Krejci
Rask - currently has a modified NTC through the 20-21 season (final year)

Where I'm going, is Krejci & Backes have significantly less say over where/if they are moved. I'll be honest, Backes in the final 2 years of his contract is probably the type of player ARZ is looking for lol. While his cap hit is $6 million, he only paid $4 million. For a team like ARZ they get a higher hit without having pay the actual $6 million in cash. That's a whole different topic though.

I don't see the Bruins giving up a RHD for a LHD. Their LHD is probably a bit better than their RHD. Also, this is a lot to give up.

I mean ARI taking on Beleskey's contract is a must for this deal to go on BOS end.

I think it's too much for the Bruins to pay. And the extension, still up questionable, and the need of the Bruins to rid themselves of Kreijci/Backus in the future is iffy at best.

Everything you say is true. This would weaken the right side. We would have to rely heavily on McQuaid and Miller (which we have done in the past) but I believe the good would outweigh the bad. Also true that this deal only benefits BOS if we can sign OEL to a new contract (that is long and friendly enough to make room for McAvoy, Heinen, & others)

The title of this mock up says it all. This would be a very controversial move if it happened.

What if I added Spooner to the deal but had Christian Fischer coming back the other way to Boston?

Personally I'd just take out one of Zboril/Carlo (probably Carlo for balance for the Bruins and because Zboril has the expected higher ceiling for the 'Yotes). I'm not all that certain on the Bruins cap situation without spending a lot of time looking at it (long term as far as signing OEL plus others and what is already on the books), but I suspect this would be a tough fit?
