Wild say no.

Granny for Patches might be even.
-I wouldn't do it 1-for-1 from Minny PoV. Granny is one of their top-2 FWDs on the ice every night (along with Staal), has an extra year on his contract, and is comeing into his own.

Dumba for Chucky+Plekanec+Benn- easy pass
-Benn adds nothing as a LD, Wild are stacked there.
-Chucky is an odd fit in MN, overpayed 3C or a middle-6 LW (Wild need RWs and have too many LWs). I like Chucky, he's just hard to fit in the Wild's lineup.
-Plekanec would be a nice 3C rental, but he's expensive even at half retained.

1st (~18oa) for 2 2nds (both around 40 oa)- easy pass

Not to mention that it's $8.2m in cap the Wild are taking on (they have like $1.5m in TDL cap space), and 2 extra contracts (they are at 50 already).

This really isn't the year for Minny to be buyers with their 1st on the table, they are on the fringe of the Playoffs.

BTW Granlund is a 1Wing, not a 1C. You're already seeing how well that works out with Drouin. Granny as a middle of the road 2C when he played there a few years ago. He's a natural wing, always has been.

Also, we came really close to acquiring Galchenyuk before the expansion draft but backed down once we did some background work on him. As soon as we backed off, the market died. Obviously something was going on that the front office did not like. Personally, I'm a fan of Galchenyuk but between the awkward fit and apparent off ice issue, I'm fine we didn't pick him up.

I'm not sure how close it really was before the expansion draft. There wasn't room to protect another FWD and one of Staal/Zucker was going to be exposed already.

From all the reports I was reading,/hearing it was damn close. We would have probably made the same trade we did with Vegas for them to take Haula since part of that was to protect Staal in addition to the D.. Maybe the 3rd they sent to us changes to a 4th or something but overall, the same trade would probably work.

Okay i agree including Dumba was a stretch. I was trying to think like M.B.
Benn obviously just a throw in to fill a roster spot.

Montreal can take a lot of Salary back.
Min G.M. is kind of known for making big moves, Min in a playoff spot, you never know.

I didn't know Minn took a long look a galchuck, I guess because of that it won't happen.

I do think Granlund would be a way better centre then Drouin but maybe that is just me.

Min low 1st pick for 2 of Montreal picks aint unthinkable.

Back to drawing board!
