I'm gonna go with no. Not yet. But it really depends what happens at the deadline. I think we all agree he isn't gonna get fired in-season but maybe in the offseason.

Well Habs owner Geoff Moulson did say publicly that he's not firing Bergefail. and since he signed him to an extension until 2023, I doubt he's going anywhere unfortunately...

unfortunately probably not. it would be nice I just don't see it happening. expect a couple more failed seasons the upcoming years unless he pulls something out of his ass.

not really, if we can get guys like Deslaurier and Gallaghers who work their asses off shift after shift, we can do something, once we get rid of the guys who come just to collect a paycheque we will be something

Bergevin can't be fired, there would be no replacement. It is a must to have a Francophone GM and coach Bergevin will not be fired. Geoff Molson is in the business of selling beer primarily, the people of Quebec made it clear last time he tried to hire an Anglophone, they boycotted his business and stop buying beer. Habs will continue to struggle and be in the basement up and until the political climate changes or Geoff Molson grows the stones to make changes, which is unlikely.

The guy that has to fire him, is the same guys that gave him 6m a year, multi year extension......so it's a easy no from me.
Of course we see this business all the time. Let's say a director hires an incompetent manager, he very reluctant to admit this mistake and will defend his hire, or in business the person will moved and moved to to other positions.

Has Montreal really gotten worse since he was hired?

I think the point when Moulson hired him was that he was meant to make the team better, Habs are back to where they started, same thing as the 2011-12 season, bunch of under-preforming veterans, no #1 center, and no prospect depth....

Id argue we are in a better spot then then, have we went downhill recently? Yes, but our Prospect depth is better and our team on paper is better IMO

sure I can agree on paper Habs look better and have a few decent prospects (Poehling, Juulsen, Mete, Scherbak, there still no legit "A" prospect though, we had one and traded him...). but looking better on paper doesn't mean squat if there's no results.

if Moulson got Bergevin the make the team "look" better than the one from 2011-2012, then congrats Mr.Moulson, you succeeded! but the Habs were 3rd worst team in the league back then and are in the same place today. So for me to have 6 years go by and see the same results, The only criticism MTL management should have right now is "Failure".

I doubt Bergevin will be fired during the 2018 offseason. The time has passed for the Canadiens to make that decision.

Do I expect Bergevin to be the Canadiens' General Manager after the 2018-2019 season? A bad start by the Canadiens twenty games into the 2018-2019 should be enough to separate from Bergevin and Head Coach Claude Julien.

Doubt it... They are committing to a rebuild IMO and aren't expecting to win

If the Canadiens plan on a rebuild, they need someone besides Bergevin to do it.

if the Canadiens are committed to losing, keeping Bergevin is the way to go. Expect many players who want to win not to sign in Montréal.

Bringing up an old post from Feb 2018 huh?

Everyone i put in bold were either still unproven unknowns (Fleury, Primeau), not drafted or traded for yet (Suzuki, KK, Romanov, Ylonen) or injured that year (Ikonen, Brook).

Sure the prospect pool looks good now! But for that time, my comment still stands. Lol
