Doesnt seem like a bad trade for Chucky, but Gaboriks contract is really poisonous for a team that is in a more win-now mode (Not this year, but we arent rebuilding)

Lol its a terrible trade Galchenyuk is not worth 2 1st round. Also the 2018 gotta chance to be a lottery pick.

It reminds me of that Schenn-Lehterä trade. STL traded a declining forward and two first-rounders to very able forward. This way Kings would get rid of Gaborik's huge contract and Habs would get some draft picks they need for future building. It's a win-win solution, sort off. Of course, everyone can have their own opinion on this matter.

In my opinion, that trade isn't that bad. Chucky obviously isn't worth 2 first-rounders, but if that's what it takes to get rid of Gaborik's contact, I'd consider it.

Galchenyuk is worth two 25-30 overall picks. He was a 3rd overall pick (He was injured for the entire season his draft year) for a reason. He is the real deal and if he had a better all around team like LA, he would thrive

He was drafted 6 years ago, so his draft number means nothing. Carolina defenseman Jaccob Slavin was drafted at the 4th round, 120th overall, in that draft, and he is currently more valuable than Galchenyuk. It's impossible to say whether he'd be better in LA or not.

The difference is that, while Galchenyuk and Schenn have had similar career paths so far, Galchenyuk is younger than Schenn and has a better contract than him at the time of the trade. Also, Lehtera is a center, is 30 and has only two years left on the contract. Gaborik is a 35 year old winger with 3.5 years left. Add to that the fact that Philly was in a position that allowed them to trade Schenn while the Habs can't afford to trade skilled, young forwards and you get why the Kings should add more to this trade if they want to get him.

I get your point, but there's also a difference between Lehterä and Gaborik. For starters, Gaborik can actually produce something. In 28 games, he has scored 7+7=14, which means approximately on point in two games. Lehterä cannot produce that. And I think Habs is in a position that they can start selling their best players if necessary - it is called rebuilding. When the team is looking like that, they'll never win anything. Taking that trade is a risk, sure, but it could bring a lot of great future assets.

Yea his 13 points and -13 make him so much more valuable than Galchenyuk lmao

For a D, not that bad. Not meant to be scoring points. And with Galchenyuk's -25 I'd just be quiet.

Where is all the Chucky hate coming from? The guy is having an off year for sure, but for someone who isn’t doing all that well he still has 31pts in 53games....and is still on pace for 20+goals....and is still only 23 years old....like seriously, a cap dump and 2 average 1st is a crappy deal for Chucky.

The guy is still elite level talent, but people on here are still like “but he was on the 4th line for like 5games” and “Marc Bergevin is stoopid, derp”

If you haven’t noticed, the whole Habs teams has been playing like shi!t... and Chucky hasn’t been the issue, that -25 can easily be attributed to him playing with Drouin, who has not worked out at Center.
