Description
With EDM out, DAL has the chance to swoop up a solid LW for a deep run. Hansson (3rd rd D) + 4th in 2018 would give EDM 2 assets for a potential rental. Solidifies the 2nd line for DAL, & gives EDM cheaper assets in support of building a team with salary cap challenges moving forward. Win-Win. Thoughts?

I’m so lost as to why anyone wants maroon? He has a good cap hit but what does he bring to a team besides size?

68 points (40 of them goals) in 129 games, he hits, stands up for his teammates and is an agitator when he has a cap hit of 2 million. He's shown he can play with top level talent (McDavid) and get (almost 30 goals). I do think a lot of people or over hyping him but he can be extremely valuable. The 8 points in 13 playoff games doesn't hurt either

Well when playing with mcdavid he just can’t miss the puck. Most of his goals are tap ins created by mcdavid. He’s gotten to play with getzlaf and mcdavid. I don’t think whoever picks him up is gonna play him on the top line. I just don’t see him creating the goals I guess is mostly my point. He’s the recipient of others playmaking.

Not sure I could let Nichushkin go. Feeling is he'll return next season, and we'll likely need a winger if we end up having to lose Roussel. Maroon for me is a rental first, and only if he shows a fit do we consider bringing him back. Nichushkin's full potential is high, and with Rads I believe we've brought a mentor to help him get there...I'd like to see a little more before I consider moving on if I'm Nill. All things considered though, not a bad offer to throw out there.

I liked what I seen from valeri when he first came in but I agree he has high upside what about let's say caggulia an a 2018 3rd turns into a second if nuch can pot 25 points caggulia is a rfa himself

My thinking here is to find someone to support our 2nd line, play with Spezza & Janmark. Shore just hasn't shown consistent ability to play up in the top 6, so would like to bring one piece in to solidify that line. Otherwise the Stars look as good as anyone in contention, but my opinion is we lack 1 line being consistent enough to overtake a few of the others that would stand in our way. There's the chance Maroon isn't that guy, maybe Grabner would be a better fit? Certainly a number of options, but in thinking like our GM I imagine he'll work to be cap-smart in his pursuit if he even believes the need exists...which I'm hoping he does. Tough call, as you don't want to affect chemistry negatively, but personally I believe 1 move could get us there.

No interest in Cagguila, to me his ceiling is bottom 6, and we have plenty of similar players in our system. It's not often we have guys of Nichushkin's talent in the tank, so if I'm Nill I'm being patient there. IMO Nichushkin is a 40+ point player right away now that he's matured a bit, and ceiling could certainly exceed that. You also have to consider timing, and with our current window I'd rather be patient for a yr or 2 with Nichushkin vs. waiting on a 3rd round pick to materialize (which isn't guaranteed) + a bubble player that we can likely find internally.
