Just because they gave up a lot, does not mean they should get a lot back. He has consistently underperformed the last two years

I agree Dorion made a mistake by giving the world for Duchene he won't make another mistake by letting him go for nothing... it just won't happen... He will count his losses and keep him before he lets him go for nothing.

so maybe st louis thinks that, but other teams say pitts, cbj san jose, would love to acquire him and will most certainly pay up.

He'd be better off just keeping him and hoping for a bounce back year next year even through a rebuild.

Ah the good ol' "I gave up alot so you better give up alot too"

No, Ottawa overpaid and he isn't working in their system. Sometimes deals work out and then sometimes, it's a a Duchene type of deal. Not everyone can be winners....

I never said to trade him away at all. However, just because a team paid X for player Y at Z time doesn't mean that same player Y is worth X at a later date (Z2?). It happens all the time in profressional sports.

Ottawa is better off keeping him to see if he can work into their system next year or put everything out there and see what type of return he could bring back if they decide to completely overhaul their team. The Senators are in a spot now where they need to decide if they want to continue with their current core or go full rebuild. Adding their current relationship with the city, I would be just as concerned about getting a new arena and keeping the team there as much as I am about putting a competitive team on the ice.
