This is the right value for Nash, but I honestly think your team (if you're a Nashville fan) is worse off. He won't be a top 6 player for Nashville in my opinion. Kevin Fiala is MUCH better than Rick Nash right now...and going forward.

What do you think you're going to get for Nash? NYR has very limited options because his cap hit is sooo high. ANY trade involves eating half his salary...and that's pretty much a guarantee. The cap has nothing to do with talent. It's just the only possible way any trade happens. NYR get's no additional value...because again...they HAVE TO RETAIN. Now look at it from Nashville's poinit of view...he's not a top 6 player on their team. He's a fine player. He can indeed make a difference, but he's a goal scorer that's on pace for his 5th season out of the last 6 being sub 40 points. It's not like he a bruiser or defensive stopper.

Rangers retain half. That's a given. His value is Hanzal's value from last year. 1st + 2nd + low level prospect. His season totals are a function of Vigneault who doesn't give his top liners proper minutes. You'll see that he hasn't gotten much above 1100 minutes in the past few years while say Forsberg and Johansen have been clocking in around 14-1500 minutes. That's on the coach. Nash rates haven't changed much. His High Dangers scoring chances have consistently been at the top part of the league. He's on our PK squad and is great there. And he's a super high possession power forward. He gets a 1st + 2nd+ low prospect to be in your top 6.

That's fair. Good analysis! TDL moves do garner a greater return. I think he may get a little less, but I do like your comp. Solid!
