you could probably get more from WPG and hear me out.

Asking prices set by rangers as of yesterday

Grabner = 1st rounder in 2018.

Nash = 1st round pick, top prospect, lower end pick

McDonagh will go for more than nash, so figure a 1st rounder, 2-2nd rounders, absolute top prospect (also based on what Islanders got for Hamonic + a top prospect since mcdonagh is a lot better than hamonic, and he's still signed for another year)

Now the way you have that, you essentially have the rangers getting a top prospect that is just starting out in the NHL which is good. Two firsts is covered. But you have a second rounder going from the rangers to WPG which defeats the purpose of rebuilding. Plus you would be missing part of the rangers asking price for McDonagh (the second rounders).

Yea, Rangers would get a lot more out of WNP for McDonaugh and Grabner. Take away the NYR 2nd and maybe add a WNG 2nd or two even

While I agree with you to a certain extent, you can't take those reports too seriously. What if no one bites? NYR are going to just keep Nash and lose him for nothing? Every GM starts out negotiation with the highest offer. It always gets negotiated less than afterwards.

"Setting" a price is simply making it known this it is what they're looking for. If no one agrees with it, then you have to reevaluate the price.

I can set the price for my 2005 Toyota Corolla at 1M dollars but that doesn't mean someone will pay for it. Chances are I'll have to lower my price.

I agree with you 100%, i'm not saying the nash trade was unfair or the asking price was unrealistic (i don't think they get THAT much, a top prospect or a 1st and second seems likely), all i was stating is that if that is what they were asking for nash, they'd be asking a hell of a lot more for mcdonagh. Like i stated, only acceptable price from the fan base would be the return would be what the islanders got for hamonic plus a top prospect

Damn I thought I took too much from Winnipeg I really doubt they’d part ways with Roslovic AND two first rounders
