Quite goal by Kapanen tonight. He looks like an NHLer as Leafs fans suspected after watching him with the Marlies. I know many Leaf haters said we were homers, but Leafs fans do get to see many Marlie games and have some measure for evaluation.
Regarding the trade posted, why are seemingly 90% highly paid Dmen trades are players traded to the Leafs? McDonagh, Doughty, OEL, Tanev, Weber

90% of the league hate the leafs for reasons unknown. So when we talk about our embarrassment of riches in youth, were all out of our mind. Really makes no sense talking to them lol. He's been so good, and honestly is a proven NHLer. I dont want him trade not even close, nor sent down again (Along with Dermott). As for the others, honestly they think were still in the Nonis/Burke era where they can fleece their garbage onto us for one of Marner or Nylander.

Pal: The reason everyone targets the Leafs for their top pairing Dman is that the media, and just about all of us, consider a top 4 Dman our #1 priority! (I also think we need a center upgrade). No one cares when trying to fleece the Leafs (OK Lou cares), how much these guys are making, how much term, what it's going to cost the Leafs, how it fits, how they are currently playing, all they care about is getting 4 future HOF's and 3 top picks or prospects back for a guy (see Shattenkirk and Hanzal) that they are ready to dispose of! (HELLO. . . .Lou is not Chiarelli, and this is not Edmonton). I do think and this is where you and I don't always agree that there is a deal to be made, a need to be filled, a fit to be had, and maybe even with one of the above. Creativity, (not craziness), needs to rule. It can work!
PS. . . . .If you want to see craziness, look at the posts for dealing Pacioretty and Mcdonagh. . . . . I didn't know that they were clones for Gretzky and Orr!

Hi Doug: When I see these Dmen to the Leafs with just 1.5 years term, such McDonagh, OEL etc,,,,,and the trades includes. Nylander/Marner.....that's the crazy part to me. There are some rational ones (few). You're right creativity should be the desired thought.
Those McDonagh posts (many of by Rangers fans,,,,,yes I think Bobby Orr of 1970 has returned.
