BOS 18/19 Draft Day

Created by: dragonlocks
Team: 2018-19 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2018
Published: Feb. 12, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Boston/Edmonton summer trade rumors flooding my news feed this afternoon. Krug is the center of the rumors, but no indication on what would be coming back the other way. This mock up was just for fun... what would it be like to have Looch back in town? Would he waive his NMC to come back to Beantown? This is so far off base, but hopefully it will get some dialogue going... what do you all think BOS would ask for in return?

I am not a Bruins fan, nor an Oilers fan.

But this is a joke right?
Why would you give up a promising prospect, who could be better than Lucic plus Spooner and Krug for Lucic.

Dragon, I like you as a poster, but you're out to ******* lunch on that one. Horrendous offer. Lucic also is never coming back to Boston. A huge reason he went West and stayed West is due to his family.

Wait, wait, wait...

You have to read the whole thing...

1st YES it was a joke
2nd DeBrusk was for the 1st round pick that would land us Boqvist NOT for Lucic

My whole idea is that Krug + DeBrusk could get us EDM 2018 1st (Adam Boqvist) + another piece... I simply inserted Lucic because there really doesn't seem to be a good fit for "another piece" that suits EDM and BOS so I used it to get dialogue going because 1) it's controversial 2) it's likely to get fans worked up on both sides and talking

Really I just wanted to get some ideas on what people thought BOS might be asking for (or what EDM might be offering) but adding DeBrusk for Boqvist was NOT mentioned in the trade rumors... I simply added that because I thought Damn that would be an awesome idea for both sides.

Is this trade in an imaginary world where chirelli is the gm of both teams simultaneously??? I could believe it then. He would do it and then give lucic even more money.

Patrick Maroon is the conversation. Krug not involved. Unless they have stepped it up and RNH or Klefbom is in the works. Krug not really a fit there though he would bring them a qb for the PP and more offense from the D they need a RD more than thry need a LD.

The Lucic part of the trade was a joke... as stated in the comments... and the description

The part of the trade that is fact based is Krug to EDM it is a supposed summer deal and rumors have been flooding my news feed all afternoon (no indication of what EDM is offering back or what BOS is asking for)

The part I added (that I thought would be a good idea) is DeBrusk for EDM 2018 1st (in which case we would use it to draft Adam Boqvist)

I love the idea of moving krug. His offense is great but he's is little and not great in his own zone. Macavoy and amazingly grzelyck added offense can make up for him. Id rather they move him with assets and find a potential chara replacement. Trade for Karlsson or oliver eckman larsson.

Moving him with other assets (DeBrusk) for a Chara replacement was my whole idea in moving up in the draft and drafting Boqvist. He's a RHD but can play both sides and is absolutely MAGIC. I've never seen a defenseman with a wrister like Boqvist's...

Pure speculation. Not happening.

It did get me to thinking...

I guess I should have left the "speculation" out of my mock-up

But what it really got me to thinking is DeBrusk + the right package moving us up to a top 5 pick in this years draft... I know everyone is excited about Dahlin, but in his shadow is the other Swede Adam Boqvist who has also been turning some heads. He's got a wicked shot and is drawing comparison to Karlsson (which I hate comparing players, but that's a bold statement).

IDK... the whole point of this mock up is to see what people thought of a Krug+DeBrusk+RFA rights to Spooner trade could get us. I know it's enough to get us a top 5 pick, but what else? at least 1 more piece...

Cup contenders don’t trade pieces for picks during the season. Shooting themselves in the foot.

Trading Krug would mean they’d have to have something like OEL or McDonagh lined up or they’d be screwing themselves. Other option would be a self contained deal with EDM that brought back RNH, Klefbom, Maroon for Krug, Spooner, Carlo, pick, and they’d have to take Beleskey for cap reasons. Something they wouldn’t do.

I'm trusting you read all the comments?
I don't wan't to explain myself again, but here it goes...
The Lucic part of the deal was a gag to get a rise out of people... It even says that in the comments...

The part of the deal that's important is DeBrusk+Krug+RFA rights for Spooner for EDM 1st 2018 (top 5 pick in which case we'd draft Adam Boqvist) + __fill in the blank__

I'm not sure what else I would ask for in return in addition to the 1st round pick so I inserted Lucic in the slot as a joke... which was addressed in the comments and in the description...

why does Boston want Boqvist so badly? It doesn't make much sense to trade for draft picks, they are a cup contending team.

It would be a draft floor trade after the conclusion of the season NOT at the TDL. I'm looking at a defenseman that can replace Chara eventually, and Boqvist is a franchise player (he's just overshadowed by Dahlin, because they're both Swede's and Boqvist needs a little more development before he is NHL ready, though he may make an impact in his draft year)

Now, Boqvist is a RHD, but he can play both sides and he has wicked offensive skills. He has a booming slap shot, a sick wrister, dominating speed, he can dangle, he moves with the puck like it's on a string, he is drawing comparison to Erik Karlsson. I hate comparing players, but I think he has all the offensive tools to be better than Karlsson (though he may not be as defensively sound) Anyway, everyone should be interested in this guy, not just Boston. It just so happens that Boston has a franchise defenseman retiring and they need someone to play with McAvoy. I can't imagine what those 2 would do together GOOD GOD!

Yeah I see what your saying. Boqvist is an intriguing player for sure but I think you would need to offer quite a bit more to get a top 5 pick in a draft that is front loaded with excellent talent.

I also think it would be a lot more likely that Boston makes a trade for a player like McDonough. And I think Chara will probably keep playing after this season as he hasn't really showed any signs of slowing down.

fair enough... I thought that was a nice little package, but maybe you're right maybe it isn't enough for a top 5 pick in this draft...

I definitely think Chara will extend. I also think a guy like Boqvist will spend some time on the bottom pairing before he takes the helm (maybe even some time in the AHL)
