id probably do it

FLA might as Trochek took the #2 spot undisputed and Bjugstads in a reduced role on third line
Barkov and Trochek are 5-6% better at faceoffs then Bjugstad so as Trocheks work load increase , Bjugstads dwindled to the point he's takes less then 250 faceoffs to Barkovs 1140 or Trocheks 991 or Mckenzie's 376.

Trading Bjugstad before they Diminish his Value and while he's still 25 just makes sense
with Borgstrom not Signed yet and looking for a spot at Center before Aug.15 when NCAA players can choose to go UFA as per the CBA .

Bjugstad before Trochek was taking 1128 faceoffs at 48.9% with his best year being 868 faceoffs with 51.7% win rate so he fits our needs for a top 6 center.
he's not elite level faceoff guy but he doesnt have to be , just consistent and able to take volume draws as we can always cycle in a winger that is faceoff capable to help him in his weak zone.

That Pleky deal is as close as it's gonna get in my opinion, so extra points for a realistic trade that leave both teams happy. I'm not hating the Pacioretty trade either... They just need to NOT screw their first round pick, and as of recently things haven't been great in that regard. But hey, not the trade's fault so kudos

And props for not adding the "John Tavares signs a 9 million 8 year deal" nonsense everyone puts in EVERY post here these days. Sprinkling a bit of Tavares on that fictional team like its Parmigiano cheese. Parmesan cheese is awesome but doesn't go on every single dish like, i dunno, sushi. So good on ya

I don't believe that FLA would give out a lottery pick AND a great prospect. That's just too much.

Theyre getting a top five goal scorer in the league in the last 5 years on a golden contract. Still young and whos scored goals on a regular basis while never having a true number 1. They still have Borgstrom, Owen Tippett coming up. This would be a move to win now, and FLA should be in that mode. Heponiemi is a great second round pick who isn’t proven in the NHL, Florida’s pick is probably gonna 10th or 11th and Bjugstad has been in and out of IR for the past couple of years. This offer works for both teams.

agree from the Habs fan side of things but will FLA give a top end lottery pick. I think they might but maybe not and on the really good trades you can't clearly see if its good or bad or who will win right away so i think you have got this right. Good job

??? They're 19 pts out of a playoff spot (with some games in hand) in the worst division... they are not in a position to trade a potential top 10 pick and one of their top 3 prospects for Pacioretty. They've won 3 more games than MTL, are you guys going all-in?

Bjugstad went from a top 6 center to a bottom 6 center and with Borgstrom coming up as soon as March if FLA chooses you'd figure they'd flip Nick for a goal scorer who plays top minutes no matter what line he's on because he's top PP and top PK always out there now on FLA you got enough talent to make him shine . he's never had access to a top 6 center and you got 2.

that being said the only thing i can say on the pick is make it top 3 protected for FLA then
its a comprimize and outside Dahlin none of the others are stand out superstars but there is a lot of good D in the top 10
if they get top 3 we get a pick next year if not and they get 5th or 6th its ours .

the pick to us still has a lot of value outside Dahlin all the way down to Bouchard who will probably for 9th or 10th .
we still get bjugstad , you get patches , you still get the chance at top 3 , we still get the chance at a second high pick

"On a golden contract." Yeah, for 1,5 years. Then he might, and probably will end up as UFA, since FLA doesn't really have that much of a chance in having a cup run in forthcoming years. Team is still a bit too inexperienced.

In my opinion, if Panthers are about to do that trade, they should do it...
1. AFTER the draft lottery because of that might end up as a TOP3 pick. Just last year, PHI got the 2nd overall pick from those positions.
2. Probably at the draft day, because then Pacioretty can be signed and traded at the same time. Losing two great prospects and a 2-3C for only one guaranteed year is too much in my opinion.

19 pts? They are 7 pts off Carolina for the final spot with 4 games in hand...They actually have less combines Reg L's and SOL than the current 8th place team..... I don't think they'll make it either but they aren't exactly dead in the water like MTL is for example.
