Like the World Championships, it's kinda meaningless unless the best players go. Like NIT basketball tournament. You don't make the top 64 teams in college basketball in the college championship, so you have tournament with the teams rated in the 60 and 70s.
Would have liked to see Canada brng a few college or Juniors prospects if that was allowed.
As far as NCAA: They invited Cale Makar but he declined, having just played in the World Juniors. Other candidates I can think of would be Fabbro (also played in WJC), Sikura, Wall, Bowers, and Evans.
As far as CHL: Even players under contract with NHL couldn't go. So with that in mind, there's not a lot of guys left worth considering: Mascherin.
