Deadline McDonagh and Maroon

Created by: Klew
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2018
Published: Feb. 15, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NYR get a young USA Center, A big skilled young wing, plus a shut down USA defenseman. Strengthening all areas. Plus a 1st Round Pick (Likely between 20th-30th)
Might have to sweeten this deal let me know.
Edmonton been criticised for being too slow, shipping out Maroon for Vatrano is a speed change. Plus if Vatrano can regain some confidence he could be a 15-20 goal NHL man.

Bruins get an heir to Chara + a more physical nasty winger to move up and down the line up depending on match up.

Tampa would easily outbid this offer for Ryan McDonagh.

As a NYR fan what else would you want from the Bruins?

Tampa outbids us and I'll gladly let them lol. Tampa's got more pressure to make a move. They're 8-7-0 in their last 15 w/ a -2 in goal diff and Boston is only 1 point behind w/ 2 games in hand. On the flip side Boston is 12-2-1 over their last 15 and +23 goal diff. Not to mention Boston has already beat Tampa in their only matchup this season and we weren't even playing our best hockey and missing our #2C.

Despite all the McDonagh trade talk, could see Donato being traded to NYR if Boston doesn't see him fitting into their plans or he doesn't want to sign with them. Played with Vesey at Harvard for a few years and may be intrigued by the idea of going to New York to play with his former teammate.

Boston def has plans for Donato and he's shown no interest in not signing. The kid grew up in the Bruins locker room and his father spent majority of his career in the Bruins organization. I won't be shocked if they approach him this off-season and sign him.

Edmonton should have zero interest in Vatrano.

How about the 2018 2nd and Ryan Fitzgerald?

I doubt Tampa moves serg, and good Carlo is overrated as ****. In a Boston trade I’d want something like bjork, vakkanenen (spelled wrong, don’t care, Finnish is weird), and pick(s)

Please do tell. I'm interested to hear how he's overrated.

I think he was rushed into the NHL, nothing wrong with him as a dman, minus the fact he plays the right side and we’re pretty locked up on the right side at the moment with Shattenkirk. Pionk, DeAngelo. I have nothing against Carlo I just don’t see him as anything more than a bottom 4D. And I just don’t want him to be overated in value.

I could pick apart Carlo's game all day...

But that's a moot point...

The point here is you kind of contradicted yourself you said "HE'S OVERRATED AS __fill in the blank__"
Then when called out on your statement you were unable to back it up so you changed your tune

Which is it? Is he "OVERRATED AS ____" or is he "fine as a bottom 4 defenseman, you just don't want him to be overvalued"

lol make up your mind man!

"Bruins get an heir to Chara + " Who's this player, cause McDonagh only has one full year till UFA. Seems too high a price, but it TDL. Truth is there aren't that many teams in the bidding for these type of players.

So then he's not actually overrated, he's just a not a need and since he's not a need you're not willing to pay a premium...Am I understanding you correctly?

I can see it too, he most likely wants to be a Bruin with all the connections he has to the team and the city. More so should have said due to the organizational depth with (JFK, Frederic, Studnicka) in the next few years, does he see himself cracking the lineup because as of now he is a point leader in the NCAA and up for the Hobey Baker so other teams would probably offer a 3rd C spot to him to sign with them much like what happened to Vesey.

I think GrizzlyNYR has left the conversation... either that or he's watching game films trying to find holes in Carlo's game so he can come back with something intelligent to say...

It's funny how "willingness" only = value in this conversation if you're a NYR fan.

Frederic at minimum has another year in NCAA and then will need a year or two in the AHL: ETA 3 years
Studnicka will be in OHL next year and then a year (maybe 2) in the AHL; ETA 2-3 years
JFK is already in the AHL and should make the big club next year: ETA 1 year

Donato could step in the same time as JFK or maybe the following season (get a year in the AHL), so I don't see an issue. Bergeron & Krejci won't be around forever and these guy will slide in as they exit.
