If McLellan or Chia doesnt go, at the very least fire Jim Johnson

Snag Alberta-native Beagle to get a real body on the PK

To get another RHD we need to move an LHD or be crowded. That means Klefblom or Nurse as we're stuck with other contracts. As much as I love the upside of Klef and think he'll rebound, I think Nurse brings more responsability to an already inconsistent defense.

See Carolina as RNH for Faulk, Skinner for Klefblom in terms of contracts.

JP has been great on the side of McD
Lucic best C fit 2017/2018 has been Drai
Would be ideal to have Russel outside top4 where he can still be effective
Strome could be 2RW and Brad Malone recalled if Yamamoto needs time

Cut Caggiula/Benning or find a return on the transfer

      Not bad. Your major trade is good. Oilers would need to ensure skinned is extended prior to the trade.

      Caggiula and Benning are not lost causes. Especially since you kept slepyshev Benning would be a great 3rd pair guy beside Russell with Davidson 7th guy and less money on his contract.

      Third line center is weak. I'd rather push Khaira to 4th C and sign Bozak. I would say Yamamoto will not be in the NHL next season so having Caggiula play 3rd rw. I personally would want to see Strome play more with Mcdavid

      I think there's options for Beagle, JK and Strome to play 3rd/4th C, while having option for the wing in all instances. I like what 97 and 98 has done together, lately JP hasn't been at McD's side and his production has dropped. Strome could do well too. If nothing else, it would bring his trade value up. There's so many options for 1st RW that could work due to Connors immense talents, but until he has a legit top winger (Skinner?) Draisaitl will always take up alot of 1RW time

      As for Caggilua. I like his flair, but based on most available stats, Oilers is worse with him on the ice. It goes to question just how salvagable his spot on the team is.

      Benning is irresponsable with and without the puck. Throws errant passes, often out of position.

      He is in NHL because he is an RHD that delivers some offense from the blueline. Because he's the only one to bring that it's too easy to overlook his many faults. That's a need we'll fill from Faulk, and later from Ethan Bear
