Can't take on 14M without sending some salary back.
No need for two #1RHD and Weber would make sense for Ottawa, so it would be logical to include him.

No 1st unless it is lottery protected or in 2019.
No Byron as he's not particularly needed in Ottawa.
Keep Petry for the 2nd pairing.

Maybe try building around that?

Melnyk is cutting costs. Weber's salary vs. cap hit gets significantly better over time, presenting significant savings. That's not even taking into account his performance and ability to lead and develop younger players.

Yep after this year Weber will have 30 million left to be paid over 8yrs...I'd really like to see people come back and say in 8yrs how terrible that contract was...barring a career threatening injury I think it'll be a great deal
