It's clear you are 100% a Rangers fan because there is absolutely no way the Leafs would ever make such a deal. Maybe the Burke and Nonis era would make such a ridiculous 1-sided deal, but not our current management group, thank goodness.

Not even close. Toronto doesn’t need McDonagh, especially not for this much.

Looks about right. Rangers would full maintain and probably add a mid rounter and minor asset going back.

How good do you think McD really is? One A prospect(Lilegren), one B+ prospect(Braaco) And a first, plus Leivo (Marincin and Martin don't matter) for a year and a half for a really good defenseman. He is really good, but not THAT good.

Yes he is. That's how good he is. I think if you get Karlsson it's that + Kadri.

I think that might be fair for Karlson, but not for McD.

Adding the Martin and Maricin contracts only adds to the return for the rangers. Rangers can eat the Martin contract whereas if TOR holds on to him that will leave less money to pony up to Marner/Nylander/Matthews. No way you can sign all 3 without making moves like that.

TOR is in win now mode before they have to pay up

Yeah I would disagree with the notion that McDonagh is that far below Karlsson in your evaluation. IF you're saying that's fair value for Karlsson, I don't think you could say that's a ridiculous offer for McDonagh. If you take the offensive advantages of Karlsson and subtract McDonagh's advantage on defense, the difference is Kadri.

I mean just in terms of rel xGF%, which is probably the best measure of total contribution we have McDonagh actually beats Karlsson over the last few years. Not saying McDonagh is near as good or valuable. But he is a significantly better defender than Karlsson and that minimizes the difference between them.

im not saying its really a fair evaluation for Carlson as much as what it would take. If I was running the leafs I wouldn't give that much up for anyone.
