What will happen when the pens core group loses their touch or retires... the pens rebuild would take so many years.

IMO, you could have Johnson for McKegg, G and a 4th. but if Rutherford is willing to give up a 3rd and 7th, I would drive Johnson to Pittsburgh my self.

chance they get a decent player at 7 is bad. mcKegg is also not a great player, so the 3rd is the main piece

who Sheahean, who is inconsistant at best, we would be alot better off with Brassard who has playoff experience and would still be able to have 2 cup runs with him on the roster

I do not want you to think I am adamantly disagreeing with you, I agree McKegg nor a 7th are not likely to be NHL players, but Johnson has had some difficulties this year, and this year is a buyers market for example Mrazek was traded for 3rd and 4th not much more than this trade is offering for Johnson. Does this make sense?

the only reason i made this trade is if murray or jarry go down with an injury. McKegg is unlikely given a roster spot in the playoffs anyway. the deal is just insurance.
